Obituary

Antonio R. Armas, 86, died Saturday, October 24, 2009, at the Blue Hill Alzheimer’s Center in Stoughton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Maria C. (Melo) Armas of Stoughton. Born in Flores, Azores, Portugal, he was raised and educated in Flores. Mr. Armas came to the United States in 1967 and settled in Stoughton. He worked as an assembler for Chipcom for many years, retiring at age 65. Mr. Armas, a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, was very active in the Portuguese community in Stoughton. He was a member of the Portuguese National Club, Club Luis de Camoes and the San Joao Filharmonic Society. He was also a founding member of the Our Lady of Fatima Feast and the Holy Ghost Society both at Immaculate Conception Church. In his free time, he enjoyed soccer and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters; Elizabeth Armas of FL, Nazare Armas and Cruz Reis and her husband Eduardo all of Stoughton. He was the grandfather of Richard Mendonca, Melanie Rappoli and Erica McNamara. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, October 27 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
