William A. Witherspoon, 95, Clarksville, died Friday, October 23, 2009, at Spring Meadow Healthcare Center. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Dr. Roger Freeman and Dr. John D. Laida officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service Monday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born April 6, 1914 in Hopkinsville, KY, son of the late Abner Witherspoon and Beulah Cravens Witherspoon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Elsie Wilson Witherspoon. Mr. Witherspoon was the owner of Clarksville Electric and Plumbing Supply Co. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include son, Jerry Witherspoon (Mary Lou), Clarksville; a brother, Joe Witherspoon, Hopkinsville, KY; a sister, Beulah Watts, Hopkinsville, KY; three grandchildren, Meg Scism (Dane), Jay Witherspoon (Sandy); and Will Witherspoon (Anna); and three great grandchildren, Emory Scism, Alden Scism, and Graham Witherspoon. Pallbearers will be Jay Witherspoon, Will Witherspoon, Dane Scism, Don Sanders, Ronnie Wilkins, and Mike Wilkins.
