Richard L. Iversen, 89, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton after a period of failing health. He was the son of the late William Iversen and Cecelie (Ibsen) Iversen. Born in Dorchester, he was a lifelong resident of Stoughton and attended Stoughton Schools. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Army. Mr. Iversen worked as a truck driver for the Stoughton Public Works Department for many years. He retired at age 65. He was a member of the VFW, Post 1645 in Stoughton. An avid sports fan, in his free time he enjoyed working in his yard.
He was the brother of E. George Iversen of Duxbury, Dorothy Stockus of VT, Betty Kelley of Wareham and the late Henry Iversen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday, October 24 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours prior to the services from 10-11 AM. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Lung Assn, 460 Totten Pond Rd., Waltham, 02451.
