Obituary

Doris J. (Cooper) Wade, age 69, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Gales Ferry.

Doris was born on January 21, 1940 in Big Sandy, TN the daughter of Linus and Clara Mae Cooper. She graduated from Big Sandy High School and was a star basketball player on it’s championship team.

She married Milton Wade on August 2, 1958. He died in 1999. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother who loved cooking, reading, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was the lead singer in a popular country band she formed with her husband. She was also a popular cook and friendly waitress in several local restaurants where she made countless friends with her loving, easy going nature.

She is survived by her children, Jeffery and wife Dodie of Ledyard, Jesse of Gales Ferry, Janet Woods and husband Tony of Gales Ferry, Jerry and wife Lauren of Plainfield; daughter-in-law, Shirley of Griswold wife of the late John Wade; 7 grandchildren, Melanie and Kevin Wade of Ledyard, Jessica Wright of Groton, Joshua and Nicholas Wade of Griswold, and Cooper and Casia Wade of Plainfield; her stepchildren, Toney Wade of Rye, NH and Gail Bomar of TN; and several relatives in Tennessee. She was predeceased by 2 of her 6 children, Jennifer and John Wade.

Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Tuesday from 6-7:30pm, followed by a service at 7:30. Burial is private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ledyard High School Music Dept., 24 Gallup Hill Road, Ledyard CT 06339.
