Fitchburg
Gordon J. O'Dell, 74, of Fitchburg, loving father, grandfather great
grandfather and friend died Monday October 19, at Life Care Center of
Leominster after a courageous fight with cancer with his family at his
bedside.
Gordon was born in Fitchburg, March 10, 1935, the son of Harold and
Catherine (Healy) O'Dell and lived in Fitchburg most of his life. He
graduated from Fitchburg High School. He worked as a machinist at Rand
Whitney Corp. He also worked as the front desk manager at the Econo
Lodge in Manchester, N.H. and at the Ayer Motor Inn. He was a U.S. Navy
veteran.
Gordon was a good Irish Catholic who loved God and nature. He was an
avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame and the Atlanta Braves. He
also loved horse and dog racing.
Gordon leaves his children, Karen Malcolm and her husband Robert of
Ayer, Kevin O'Dell and Nancy O'Dell both of Ayer. Stephen O'Dell and Lee
Ann Hoffman of Lewes, Del., Michael O'Dell and his fiance Brenda Comeau
and Melissa O'Dell of Fitchburg. His brother Harold O.Dell. He also leaves
8 grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Stephen, Keryn, Amy, Taylor, Devon and
Robert. Two great grandchildren and two more to come. Nephews Brian
and Bruce O'Dell.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 10:00 A.M. in St. Bernard Church
240 Water St.. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours in the
Bosk Funeral Home 85 Blossom St. are Thursday from 6 to 8 P.M.
