Ronald R. Alves, age 70, of Fall River, passed away October 19, 2009. Widower of Anita (Silva) Alves and son of the late Joseph Rego Alves and Hortense (Pacheco Mendonca) Alves. He worked at General Dynamics in the shipyard from 1967-1985. Then he worked at Pioneer Finishing from 1993-2001. He was a Red Sox and Patriots fan and had been a Sgt. in the Army National Guard. He was known to many close friends as “Dad” or “Poppa”
He is survived by 4 Children: Ronald R. Alves Jr., Rhonda L.M. Alves, Robin M. Alves, and Robert J. Alves, and Son-in-law Peter, all of Fall River. 5 Siblings: Richard and George Alves, Nancy Swass, Annemarie Souza, and Natalie Mello. 9 Grandchildren. 1 Great Grandson. Many nieces & nephews. He was also brother of the late Joseph and Donald Alves.
His funeral service will take place in the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. Thursday at 9:00A.M. Calling hours Wednesday 5-9 PM. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, donations to the Highlander Nursing Rehab. Ctr., 1748 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA. 02720.
