Obituary

On Monday, October 19th, Robert R. O'Toole, age 71, of Stoneham formerly of Woburn, passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Sandy C. (Gatta) O’Toole who was by his side constantly during that time.

Robert was born and raised in Belmont, the son of the late Minna C. (Loir) and John J. O'Toole. After High School he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served until he was honorably discharged in 1959.

After completing his military service, Robert worked for many years as the owner and operator of the South of Boston Ice Cream Company selling ice cream from a fleet of trucks and also working in the vending machine business which he later sold. He was also the former owner of the Cambridge Cab Company and in more recent years he worked for the Belmont Cab Company. He was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed taking trips to the Foxwoods Casino and to the horse track. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and his many loving nieces and nephews.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra C. (Gatta) O'Toole, two sons, Mark O'Toole of Belmont and Brian O'Toole of Concord. He is also survived by three loving grandchildren and is the cherished brother of John O'Toole and Helen O'Toole both of CA, William O'Toole of Bedford, Thomas O'Toole of Billerica and Alice White of Southborough. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. WOBURN on Thursday, October 22nd, at 9 am followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
