Obituary

SALEM - Justine “Jay” (Czarnecki) Urbanowicz, 88, of Salem, passed into the hands of God surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 17, 2009. She was the wife of the late Stanley F. Urbanowicz.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Jozef and Zofia (Grabowska) Czarnecki. She was a Salem resident her entire life, was educated in Salem schools and was a faithful communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody.

Jay was a hairdresser and worked for many years for Mr. Robert’s in Salem.

She is survived by her two children, Richard “Dick” Urbanowicz of Salem and Myrtle Beach, S.C., Tina Vassy and her husband, Mark of Peabody, three grandchildren, Richard Urbanowicz Jr. and his wife Julie of Salem, Janey Beauregard and her husband Richard of Salem, Marcie Lee Vassy of Peabody, three great grandchildren, Ryan Urbanowicz, Billy Beauregard and Tommy Beauregard who brought her tremendous joy, and a dear sister, Cassie Solodiuk of Peabody. She is pre-deceased by her two brothers, Stephen J. Czarnecki, Sr., Fred J. Czarnecki and her daughter-in-law Kathryn Urbanowicz.

Mrs. Urbanowicz was very creative and enjoyed the intricate needle work of Japanese Bunka as well as quilting, knitting and crocheting and gifted many of her loved ones with these treasured items. She was a weekly bingo player and enjoyed trips to Foxwoods. She and her husband, Stanley were avid polka dancers. She so enjoyed listening to “Steve & Kay’s Polka Review” on the radio hosted by her brother, Steve Czarnecki and brother-in-law, Konstanty “Kay” Solodiuk. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at the St. Thomas The Apostle Church on North Street, Salem, at the Peabody line.
