Obituary

Mahlon W. Walker, of Plymouth formerly of Quincy, passed away on October 14th at the age of 95 at Jordan Hospital. Beloved husband of the late Rae Calvert (Kelley) and Marion (Nickerson), he is survived by his son Kenneth W. Walker and his wife Marilyn of Londonderry, NH, his daughter Janet L. Cann and her husband Donald of Rockland, his step-son Richard Nickerson and his wife Norma of ME and the late Fred Nickerson Jr. and his step-daughters Barbara Romboldi and her husband Rodney and Carol Taber and her husband Kenneth all of Plymouth. He also leaves his grandchildren Emily and Jessica Cann of Rockland and Kathryn, Kari and Alexander of Londonderry, NH; his step-grandchildren Robin Trask and her husband Douglas, Kendra Taber and Marcia Tache and her husband Peter all of Plymouth. Mahlon was born in Brockton and graduated from Quincy High School, class of 1932. He has lived in Plymouth for 48 years and summered at Grindells Oceanview Park in Dennisport since 1941. Mahlon attended Burdett College for 1 year and Mass. State Extension for 1 year. He was the owner and fuel executive of Sears Fuel Company in Plymouth and was the past president of the Mass. Oil Heating Association, past director of Better Home Heating Council, South Shore Fuel Dealers Association, past president of Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, a mason for 63 years he was a member of Plymouth Lodge A.F & A.M and was past president and a Paul Harris Fellow in the Plymouth Rotary Club. He was a member of the Church of the Pilgrimage and was a deacon also for many years, a trustee of Plymouth Savings Bank, a past member of the Plymouth Redevelopment Authority and volunteered at Jordan Hospital. A funeral service will be held at the Church of the Pilgrimage on Saturday October 17th at 10:30 AM followed by burial at Vine Hills Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Friday October 16th from 3 to 7 PM with a Masonic service at 6:30 pm at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St, (Rt 3A), N. Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Church of the Pilgrimage, Mahlon Walker Fund for the Homeless, 8 Town Square, Plymouth, MA 02360 or to the Plymouth Rotary Trust, P.O Box 927, Plymouth, MA 02362.
