Margaret (Cross) Norton, Beloved wife of the late John Norton died peacefully on Monday, October 12, 2009 at the Mary Immaculate Nursing Care Facility.
Born in Lawrence, She was the daughter of the late Michael and Nellie (Connors) Cross. She was raised and educated in Lawrence and attended Lawrence Public Schools.
Mrs. Norton had been employed at ITT Semiconductor, The Bessie Burke Hospital and Retired from the City of Lawrence. She was a long time parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Lawrence.
Peg as she was called, loved people, always socializing with friends and family. She loved crafts, cooking, knitting, playing 45's, 500 Rummy and BINGO. She always had a smile for everyone. Catholic prayer and the rosary gave her much comfort.
She is survived by her son, Joseph Norton of Lawrence and his fiancé Brenda Maurais of Methuen, grand children: Michael Norton and his wife Susan of Methuen, Steven and his wife Paula of Methuen, Tim Norton and his wife Kathy of Lawrence, MA, Ryan Norton and his wife Louise of Pittsfield MA, Kevin Norton and his wife Danielle of Lawrence. 12 Great grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Diane Norton of Salisbury, MA.
She is the mother of the late, John "Jack" Norton.
The family wants to sincerely thank the second floor staff at the Mary Immaculate and the Merrimack Valley Hospice for their professional and personal care Peg received throughout her stay.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 10:00AM at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church and the burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
