Obituary

Jeannette R. (Cote) Kenyon, 74, of Fairhaven died Sunday August 24, 2003 at Alden Court Nursing and Rehab Center after a brief illness. She was the wife of Louis A. Kenyon, to whom she was married for 52 years.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Theodore and Ireneda (Brault) Cote, she had lived in Fairhaven for most of her life.

Mrs. Kenyon was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven, where she was Past President of the Ladies Association. She also had been a member of the Child of Mary Society at St. Anthony of Padua Church in New Bedford.

Mrs. Kenyon was a registered beautician who owned and operated Hollywood Beauty Salon. An excellent seamstress, she had also worked for Decorating Pioneers in Dartmouth. Many years ago, she had also been employed by Kennedy's Butter Store in Downtown New Bedford. When her son was beginning his dental practice, she worked in his office as a receptionist.

She was constantly helping other people and was very faithful to her religious beliefs. An avid reader, she loved collectible dolls and gardening. She also made wedding cakes for numerous people in the area.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Dr. Louis P. Kenyon and his wife Claudette A. Azar-Kenyon, of Dartmouth; a sister, Doris Botelho of Fairhaven; and many nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Gerard Cote, Roger Cote, Rene Cote and Annette Cote.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Wednesday August 27, 2003 at 8:45AM.Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday August 26, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.
