TEWKSBURY - Catherine J. (Gear) Vartanian, age 81, a former Carter Street resident, diedSunday, Aug. 24, in Braintree, after a lengthy illness. She was wife of the late Jacob K. “Jake” Vartanian, who died in 1993.
She was born on Brighton, Jan. 3, 1921, a daughter of the late Luke and Mary (MacDonald)Gear. She was raised in Everett, but had lived in Tewksbury since 1955. She had lived with hersister, in So. Weymouth, for several years.
She was a communicant of St. William’s Church in Tewksbury.
She is survived by two daughters, Catherine Fox of Lawrence, Doreen Hayden of Kingston, NH,three sisters and a brother-in-law, Rita M. Gear of Milton, Theresa S. Carroll of Weymouth,Agatha F. and her husband Joseph McKeen of Milton.
She was also sister of the late William Gear and Raymond Gear.
Her Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, Aug. 27, in St. William’s Church. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery,No. Tewksbury.
