DRACUT - Francis W. Dunn, 76, a lifelong resident of the Town of Dracut, died Saturday morning October 10, 2009 in the Kindred Hospital in Waltham. He was the beloved husband of the late Jeannette (Desmarais) Dunn who predeceased him in 1992.
Born in Dracut on June 11, 1933, he was a son of the late Martin and Mary (Davis) Dunn. He received his education in the Dracut school system.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict as an Airman Second Class in the United States Air Force.
Prior to his retirement in 1988, Mr. Dunn had been employed for 30 years as an Orderly by the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford.
He was a communicant of St. Therese Church in the parish of St. Marguerite D'Youville in Dracut.
In his free time he enjoyed vegetable gardening and playing cards. He was an avid New England sports fan who especially loved to watch the Boston Bruins. He will be remembered as a loving family man who cherished time spent in the company of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving him are four daughters Debbie Dion and her husband Robin of Lowell, Karen Eno of Dracut wife of the late Matthew Eno, Francine Dunn and her companion Wally Casper of Dracut, and Janet Provencher of Dracut wife of the late Edward Provencher; six grandchildren Matthew Dion and his wife Stephanie of Lowell, Danielle Sullivan and her husband Timothy of Lowell, Jennifer Elliot of Dracut, Joseph Eno of Dracut and Jessica and Monica Provencher also of Dracut; two great grandchildren Emma Sullivan and Timothy Sullivan II; one sister Gertrude Clark and her husband Butch of Pelham, NH; one brother Thomas Dunn and his wife Dee of Dracut; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Mary Lapham, Rita Vezina, and Esther, Joseph, John, Charles, Walter and Robert Dunn.
Friends may call at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Tuesday from 4 until 8 PM. His Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday at 8 AM followed by his Funeral Mass celebrated at 9 AM in Ste. Therese Church, Dracut. Interment in Tyngsboro Memorial Cemetery, Tyngsboro.
