Grace A. (Mahoney) Fitzgerald, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died suddenly on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 78 years old.
Grace was born in Boston and grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1949. She was a homemaker and a member of The Somerville City Club.
Grace is the wife of Bobby "Fidda" Fitzgerald. She is the devoted mother of Debbie Kane of Winthrop and her late husband Marty Kane, Christine Kelly and her husband Eddie Kelly of Melrose and the late Bobby Fitzgerald. She is the loving grandmother of Aileen Kane and Bobby Kelly. She is the beloved sister of the late Uncle Jimmy Mahoney.
Grace's funeral will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009, at 9:30 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Friday, October 9, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury.
