Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Vincenza J. “Vincie” (Misuraca) Vaiarella, 95, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, October 6, 2009 with her family at her side in the Addison Gilbert Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Michael F. Vaiarella, who died in March of 1985.
Born in Detriot, Michigan on January 29, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Giovannina (Lopiccolo) Misuraca. She had resided in Gloucester most of her life.
In her early years, she was employed at Gorton’s of Gloucester. Vincie enjoyed the simple things in life and was often found singing while knitting and crocheting, but her passion in life was her family and her belief in God.
She is survived by her six children, her daughters, Catherine, wife of William Powers, Theresa Bertoldi, Stella, wife of James Dunn, and Jennie Berrigan, who devoted more than twenty years of her life to the care of her mother providing constant companionship and friendship for which the family is eternally grateful; her sons, Joseph Vaiarella, companion of Geraldine Souza and Thomas, Sr., husband of Cheryl (Shields) Vaiarella. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Robert and Craig Bertoldi, Maryann Dunn, Cathy Sidlowski, Thomas Powers, and Michael and Thomas Vaiarella, Jr. both of whom provided her with comfort, love, pride, and a special place in her heart. In addition, she has three great-grandchildren, four brothers, Nat, John, Sam, and Thomas Misuraca, three sisters, Grace Favazza, Cathy Walius and Mary Parisi, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by an infant son, Joseph Vaiarella, two brothers, Joseph and Vito Misuraca, a sister, Helen Misuraca and nieces, Marie Wagner and Paula Johnson.
Funeral services will be held in the Calvary Cemetery on Friday morning at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours.
