Westport - Joseph A. Campbell, 83, of Truman Street, Westport died at home August21, 2003 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Dora M. (Farland) Campbell.
He was born in Fall River son of the late Gerome E. and Ellen R. (Coughlin)Campbell and resided in Westport most of his life. He was a communicant of OurLady of Grace Church, Westport. He was employed by the former New EnglandTelephone Co. as a switchman for 36 years until his retirement.
Mr. Campbell was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. He was a member of theKnight of Columbus, Isador the Farmer, Westport/Dartmouth and Warden of theCouncil. He was a Past Commander of American Legion Post # 145, Westport, PastCommander of American Legion District 9, a past officer of I.B.T.W., Local # 22; anda 4th degree Knight, Bishop Cassidy Council. He was the last Chairman of the PublicWelfare Board, Westport, served on the Finance Committee of Westport for 7 yearsand served on the Board of Registrars, Westport for 16 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 daughters: Judith A. Maynard ofBrockton, MA and Mary Jane Wilson of Webster, MA; a sister: Helen West of CapeCoral, FL; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be from the POTTERFUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Road, Westport, Monday at 9:00 A.M. followed by aMass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
