Obituary

Robert A. Toner, of Somerville, died Wednesday at home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 69.

The son of the late Arthur and the late Dorothy (Linskey) Toner, Robert was raised in both Dorchester and Charlestown. He was proud of his service in the Army. He was part of the occupational force in Japan and then served in Korea during the Korean War.

After his marriage he settled in Somerville, where he has resided for the past 45 years, and worked as a shipper/receiver with Industrial Supply of Everett.For most of his life, Robert vacationed at Center Harbor, New Hampsire. There, he enjoyed the company of a loving family and friends.

Robert was the devoted husband of Carmilla J. (D´Auria) (Fuccillo) with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. He was a loving father to Mary Ann Grassia of Salem, Ralph Fuccillo and his companion Paul Newman of Watertown, Michael Fuccillo and his wife Barbara of Woburn, Arthur Toner of Lynn, Roberta Toner of Stoneham, James Toner and his wife Patricia, Jo-Ann and her husband Steve Solviletti all of Billerica, Judith and her husband Vincent Sabatino, Robert D. Toner and his wife Karen all of Somerville. Robert was a beloved “Grampy” to 20 grandchildren. He was the brother of Patricia and her husband Richard Hill of Carver, Dorothy and her husband Henry Poudrier, and James Toner all of Belmont, NH. Robert is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relative and friends may visit Saturday from 4 - 8 and Sunday from 4 - 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Clement Church, Medford, Monday at 10 AM.

Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
