WESTPORT…Edward Estrella, Sr., 78, of Westport died Monday, October 5, 2009 peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy V. (Arruda) Estrella.
Born in Fall River he was the son of the late Antone and Mary (Correira) Estrella. He was a resident of Westport since 1972 and a communicant of St. George Church, Westport. Mr. Estrella was a U.S. Army veteran and had been employed by Quaker Fabric of Fall River as a security guard until his retirement. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Club of Westport. He was an avid gardener and loved animals but most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 sons: Edward Estrella, Jr. and his wife Susan and John Casper of Fall River; 6 daughters:Mary D. St. Amour, Pauline Ormston and Cheryl A. Kingman of Fall River, Gail M. Lopes and Dawn M. Tripp of Dartmouth and Deborah A. Coffey of Little Compton; A brother: Antone Estrella of Westport, 3 sisters: Frances Dean of Westport, Delores St. Pierre of Fall River and Patricia Estrella of Fall River; 15 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was the grandfather of the late Barry Tripp, Jr. and brother of the late: Joseph, Alfred, George, John, David, Jesse and Manuel Estrella and Alice Lopes.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be Thursday, October 8, 2009 from the Potter Funeral Home at 8:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
