Obituary

Robert O. Kincaid, 90, of Pocasset Ave., died Saturday, July 12, in UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus.

He leaves his wife of 66 years, Ethel C. (Nelson) Kincaid; a son, Robert C. Kincaid of Worcester; a daughter, Paula E. Zuidema of North Brookfield; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A sister, Gladys McLeod, predeceased him.

He was born in Boston, son of Milo and Lena (Emish) Kincaid, and lived in this area most of his life. He graduated from Commerce High School, and served for 26 years with the Armed Services.

Mr. Kincaid was a veteran of the Navy, retiring in 1958 with the rank of chief petty officer. He served aboard the USS Augusta and the USS Alcyone. He was wounded at the Battle of Midway, and awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of Greendale Peoples Church and The Odd Fellows of Worcester, serving as its secretary and treasurer. He was a past grand supreme monarch of the Odd Fellows, and received their Spirit of Odd Fellowship Metal and Award this year. He was a 32Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of The Disabled Veterans, and played in the Fife and Drum Corps of the American Legion.

The funeral was held on Wednesday, July 16, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Burial was in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
