Maria D. (Medeiros) Furtado, age 82 of Swansea. Wife of Luis Miguel Furtado and daughter of the late Luis and Francisca (Da Costa) Medeiros. Passed away October 5, 2009. Born in Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Azores she resided in Swansea. She was a member of St. John of God Church and was a retired a seamstress and homemaker.
Besides her husband of Swansea, she is survived by 6 children: Dora Medeiros of Swansea, Maria Medeiros of Somerset, Michael Furtado of Swansea, Steven Furtado of Somerset, Theresa Furtado of Swansea and Mark Furtado of Fall River; 3 siblings: Hilda Raposo of Fall River and Nelly Carvalho & Irene Costa both of Somerset; 7 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Sarah, Steven, Amanda, Miranda, Justin & Mariah and several nieces & nephews. She was sister of the late Jose Medeiros.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. Thursday at 8 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church at 9 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours Wednesday 4-8 PM.
