Obituary

William “Wink” Wingate Taylor, Sr., 62, of Americus, Georgia died Saturday. October 3, 2009 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held 3 P.M., Sunday, October 4, at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel in Americus, GA with Rev. Robert Couey and Rev. John Gibbs, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Americus one hour prior to services.

Graveside services will be held 11 A.M., Monday, October 5, 2009, at the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will receive friends at Bethlehem Baptist Church one hour prior to services.

Mr. Taylor was born November 19, 1946 in Dooly County, Georgia to the late Howell C. Taylor and Lucile Wingate Sumner. He graduated from Irwin County High School in 1964 and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1968. He was employed as a Complex Human Resource Manager for Tyson Foods. He served in the Georgia National Guard and was an avid motorcyclist, hunter and Georgia Bulldog fan. He was a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather. Mr. Taylor was active in civic and charitable organizations.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife Lynn Harrell Taylor of Americus, four daughters; Christy Taylor-Pruitt and Sean of St. Augustine, Florida, Lauren L. Taylor of Eatonton, Heather Ould of Woodstock and Shannon Ould of Greenville, South Carolina; one son, Wink Taylor, Jr. and Tisa of Cordele; one brother, Howell C. Taylor, Jr. of Ocilla; and one sister, Hazel Ann Gleaton of Perry ; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society c/o Ann Harris, 1801 Rose Ave., Americus, GA 31709 and the Sheriff’s Boys Ranch, 5671 Hwy. 122 East, Hahira, GA 31632 or a charity of your choice.
