KATHLEEN (CHILDS) KENNEDYKathleen (Childs) Kennedy, 85, of Needham formerly of Newton, died Wed Aug. 20, 2003 at Northeast Specialty Hospital in Natick.Born in Newton she graduated from Newton High School in 1937, the Perry Kindergarten Normal School in 1940 and Boston Univ. in 1942. She was active with PTA at the Murray Rd. School and Burr School in Auburndale. Mrs. Kennedy moved to Needham in 1988.Wife of the late Newton Fire Capt. James E. Kennedy, she is survived by her son David C. Kennedy of Palm Springs CA, her daughters Judith Venditti and her husband John of Needham, and Carole Kennedy of Needham. She is also the loving grandmother of Michelle, Julie, and Nicholas Venditti all of Needham, and sister in law of Alice T. Childs of Newton. Mrs. Kennedy was the daughter of the late Edwin O. Childs, former Mayor of the City of Newton and Mildred (Roy) Childs, and sister of the late Edwin O. Childs Jr.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Sat. Aug 23 at 11 AM in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. Newton Corner. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visiting hours will be in the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 PM.
