Obituary

Margaret Anne “Margie” Kampe, 63, of Litchfield, NH,. died September 30, 2009 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born January 25, 1946 in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada, the only daughter of Lawrence and Margaret (MacDougall) Farrell. She moved to the United States in August of 1964. She met her husband Herb in 1965, they were married in Concord, MA on November 12, 1966 and they moved to Litchfield the following year.

Margie worked in the accounting field for Nashua Trust Company, Nault’s Transportation Companies, Rifky’s, and Henry’s Auto Body until retiring in 2001 after suffering two debilitating strokes.

She was a member of the Litchfield School Board in the 1970’s and served as checklist supervisor as well.

IN HER LIFE: Margie had many hobbies including cooking, bingo, crossword puzzles, quiet times at the cottage in Maine, playing cards with friends, and RV travel to Nova Scotia, Ontario and Maine. She also enjoyed shopping with Laurel, barbeques with Larry, late winter trips to Florida, and playing with her grandkids. An avid Patriots fan, she loved getting together with friends to watch the games at home or at the stadium. An accomplished bowler, she returned to the sport after her stokes by teaching herself to bowl with her left hand.

Margie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Herbert Kampe of Litchfield; a son, Lawrence Kampe of Manchester; a daughter, Laurel Sumner and her husband, Thomas, of Apex, NC; two granddaughters, Isabelle and Emily Sumner of Apex, NC; two brothers, Kevin Farrell of Ottawa, Ontario and Donald Farrell of Oshawa, Ontario; a sister in-law, Penny Farrell of Janetville, Ontario; a brother in-law, Robert Kampe and his wife, Karen, of Nokomis, FL; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph “Gully” Farrell and Peter Farrell.

Always quick with a smile, Margie was a caring, loving person who touched the hearts of many. The family would like to thank Dr. Ning and the staff at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Daniela Verani, as well as the caring staff at the Community Hospice House.



The funeral was held Monday, October 5, 2009 in the funeral home. Burial was at the convenience of the family.
