Robert W. Quimby, Sr., 82, of Milton Mills, NH, died Monday, September 28, 2009 at his home. Mr. Quimby, Sr. was born in New York, NY on September 10, 1927, a son of the late Ralph Wilbur Quimby and Myrtle F. (Willar) Quimby. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Quimby was a truck driver for Holmes Trucking Company and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 633. He was an avid fisherman and always had fond memories of his fishing trips to Pittsburg, NH.
He is survived by a son, Ralph W. Quimby and his wife Betty, four grandchildren, Coreen Toussaint and her husband Mark, Tracey Quimby, Scott Quimby and Robert "BJ" Quimby, and also by two great-grandchildren, Ben and Christal. He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes Margaret Quimby, his son, Robert W. Quimby, Jr., a granddaughter, Christal Quimby and his lovable dog, Breezy.
Calling hours were held on Friday, October 2, 2009 from 11:30am-1:30pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH, with a funeral service held in the funeral home at 1:30pm. The burial with military honors was in the Great Hill Cemetery, Chester, NH. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Your VNA, 178 Farmington Rd., Rochester, NH 03867-4355.
