Calvin R. Avery, 83, of Suffolk, VA, widower of Verla Mae Avery, died Sunday, September 27, 2009 at his residence.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 1:00 at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville. Friends and family may visit at the cemetery from 12:00 until the hour of service.
Mr. Avery was born January 23, 1926 in Sineath, MO, son of the late Harry and Ada Avery. He served in the United States Navy and spent most of his career in the automotive body repair industry.

Survivors include four sons and two daughters; Gaylon “John” L. Avery (Charlene) of Geneva, AL, Larry “Dink” Avery (Garlett) of Suffolk, VA, Linda M. Kimbrell (R. Neal) of Ladson, SC, George A. Avery (Pam) of Bryan, TX, Glenn “Buddy” Avery of Charleston, MO and Teena M. Haglund of Opelika, AL. He was predeceased by one son; Alan Avery and one daughter; Suetta Raye Avery.
