Obituary

Worcester - James R. Mitchell, 54 of Mill Street an Army Bronze Star recipient died on Wednesday August 20 after an industrial accident in Green Hill Park.

Mr. Mitchell leaves his wife of 31 years Regina (Dodd) Mitchell; a son James R. Mitchell Jr. of Florida; a daughter Melissa L. Plouffe of Worcester; his mother Doris (Boulay) Mitchell of Worcester; a brother Frederick Mitchell of Townsend, MA; three grandchildren Austin Newell of Dudley, Mackenzie Mitchell of Florida and Zachary Plouffe of Worcester. Several nephews and nieces. Mr. Mitchell was born in Worcester son of the late Frederick Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell is a veteran of the United States Army where he was awarded the Bronze Star.

He was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Worcester Parks and Recreation Department. He Preiously worked as a truck driver for many years for O'Leary's Mail Service. Mr. Mitchell enjoyed fishing as well as being an avid Nascar and Patriots fan.

The funeral will be held on Monday August 25 at 10 AM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held on Sunday August 24 from 1 to 4 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Worcester 139 Holden Street Worcester, MA 01606 in memory of Mr. Mitchell's dog Bailey.
