Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Allen, 67 of Londonderry, NH, died Sunday, September 27, 2009 surrounded by his family and friends at his home following a brief battle with brain cancer. Mr. Allen was born in Medford, MA on October 28, 1941, son of the late Sherman J. and Mildred (Deagle) Allen. He was a resident of Londonderry for the last 37 years, formerly living in MA. Jerry grew up in Stoneham, MA and graduated from Medford High School, Medford, MA. He then served with the U.S. Navy. He was a hard worker and enjoyed his work driving, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 25. Jerry enjoyed spending his weekends in Wells, ME, vacationing and trips to Hawaii, collecting beach glass and doing yard work. He was a big Red Sox and Patriots fan. Jerry absolutely adored his grandchildren and loved his family and friends very much.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty (Logan) Allen of Londonderry, a son, Chris Allen of Londonderry, a daughter, Kim Allen-Spottiswood of Methuen, MA, two grandchildren, Melanie Allen and Mitchel Spottiswood, both of Methuen, three sisters, Joan Sadowski and her husband Paul of Wilmington, MA, Janice Harris and her husband Frank of Georgia, Judi Auerbach and her husband Mark of Winthrop, MA, three brothers, Johnny Allen and his wife Joan of Sebastian, FL, Jimmy Allen of Stoneham, MA, Joey Allen of Chelsea, MA and also by many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and other relatives.

Calling hours were held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 4-8pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Funeral services were held on Thursday at 10:00am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Child and Family Services of NH, P.O. Box 448, Manchester, NH 03105.
