Obituary

Edward Joseph Fitzgerald of Bourne and Plymouth, 88, died peacefully at home with his family by his side on Friday. He is the loving husband of the late Gwendolyn (Maddock) Fitzgerald for 62 years. Originally from Dorchester, Edward was a WWII veteran, serving in the Normandy D-day invasion and the Pacific Theatre. Edward was a 68 year member in good standing in the Local 4 International Union of Operating Engineers, working on many Boston sky scrapers and power plants in the region. He is survived by his three children Mary Lee Tassinari and her husband Jim of Plymouth, Geraldine Vickers of Bourne and Kathleen Fitzgerald of Bourne. Five grandchildren Laura Lee Tassinari Buckley and her husband Adam, Elizabeth Ann Landry and her husband Clinton, Paul Tassinari, Edward Vickers and David Tassinari. Also, he is survived by two sisters Mary Kelly of Norwood, Marguerite Garbett of Norwood, a brother John Fitzgerald of Quincy and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd (Rt. 3A), Plymouth (Manomet) on Monday, September 28th from 10 to 12pm followed by a mass at St Bonaventure’s in Manomet at 12:30. Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Bourne at 2:45 pm. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Franciscan Friars C/O Father Tom Lavin, 12300 Folly Quarter Rd., Ellicott City, MD 21042.
