Obituary

Orabell Mae (Kline) Wood of Chelmsford, formerly of Schenectady, New York and beloved wife of the late James F. Wood, Sr., died at the Lawrence General Hospital on Monday, September 21, 2009. She was 90 years old.



Born in Schenectady, New York, on November 1, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Nellie Mae (Fuller) Kline. Mrs. Wood worked as a beautician for several years and also worked for General Electric in their production lines. She loved to work with ceramics, and paint with oil and watercolors. Orabell was also a very athletic woman and loved to play baseball and enjoyed horseback riding and skiing. Even in her later years she played some wiffle ball. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.



She is survived by all of her children; James F. Wood Jr. and his wife Gene of Andover, Catherine M. Wood and her partner John Connelly both of Millis, Elizabeth A. and her husband Paul R. Groff of Nashua, David R. and his fiancée Elizabeth Caron both of Magnolia; six grandchildren - Marcus and Heather Groff, Andrew, Susan, Jacob and Brenton Wood; and three great-grandchildren - Benjamin and Madeline Wood, and Sofia Groff; one sister - Gertrude "Trudee" and her husband Fred Winsor of New Jersey, and one brother - Fuller and his wife Ethel Kline of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.



A memorial service was celebrated in the New England Bible Church, 60 Chandler Road, Andover on Saturday, September 26, 2009, at 2 PM. Burial was in Scotia, New York, following a memorial service in her home church, The Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church on the corner of Glenwood Blvd. and Rugby Road, Schenectady, Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 2 PM.
