TAUNTON – Charles Dennis Thorne, 63, died at Kindred Northeast Specialty Hospital in Stoughton on Sept. 17, 2009.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Madelyn A. (Machado) Thorne.
Raised in Taunton, and educated in Taunton schools, he later served in the National Guard from 1966 to 1972.
Mr. Thorne worked for the Checker Cab Co. of Taunton for several years.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include a son, Jamie Thorne of Taunton; three brothers, Terry Thorne and Daniel B. Thorne Sr., both of Taunton, and Robert Thorne of PA; a sister, Carol Benson of PA; and a grandson, Owen Thorne of Taunton.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Final disposition was by cremation.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, on Monday, Sept. 28th, at 1 p.m.
The family will receive callers from 12 noon to 1 p.m., prior to the service.
