Obituary

David B. Nye, 84 of Carver, husband of the late Gertrude M. (Laine) Nye passed on September 21, 2009 after a wonderful life.
David was born in Woods Hole, MA on March 11, 1925. he attended Falmouth Schools, and later moved to Wareham. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946, and was stationed in Germany during World War II. Upon returning he worked at Bryant Farm in Wareham as a farm hand, later Wareham boat yard as a builder, Greer lumber, E.L. Morse, and the settled in at R.F. Morse.
David was a retired Capt. of the Carver Fire Dept., which he cherished with all his heart, and also a retired Sgt. for the Carver Police Dept.
He worked at Edaville Railroad for Ellis D. Atwood with his father and brothers working the cranberry bogs and parking cars during the festival of Christmas lights. He enjoyed horse pulls at the Fryeburg fair in Maine, creating anything with wood, enjoyed animals, and in the past few years growing a garden for enjoyment. He will be greatly missed.
He leaves a son Michael D. Nye and his wife Kathleen of S. Carver, three grandsons, Frank M. Nye of S. Carver, David R. Nye of Wareham, and Matthew R. Nye of S. Carver. Brother of Willard Nye, and Gordon Nye, and brother in law to Marilyn Nye. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 24th, from 4-7:00PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St. (Rt. 58) Carver. A funeral service will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home on Friday, September 25th at 10:00AM. Internment will be at the Union Cemetery in Carver.
