Eugene "Gene" H. Witham, 53, of Derry, NH died Tuesday September 22, 2009 at his home following a brief illness. Gene was born in Woburn, MA on March 5, 1956, son of the late Stanley and Helen (Smith) Witham. He was raised and educated in Wilmington, MA. He had resided in Derry for the past 13 years, formerly living in Lowell, MA. He was employed in sales for the J.J. Nissen Co. in Hooksett for 23 years. Gene was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed fishing and swimming in the Pacific Ocean. He also enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods Casino.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn M. (Dumont) Witham of Derry, eight step-children, Leslie Crepeau of Plaistow, NH, Victoria Inglis of Tyngsboro, MA, John Dumas of Lowell, Maureen Baptista of Salem, NH, Daureen Klimkofski of Sandown, NH, Mark Ortiz, Jessica Ortiz and Timothy Ortiz all of Lowell, many grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three sisters, Janet Hawes of Tigard, OR, Dale Kleynen and her husband Artie of Derry, Beverly Downs and her husband Bill of Lowell, one brother, Tracy Witham of Lawrence, MA, also many nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his brother, Stanley Witham in 1967.
Calling hours were held on Thursday September 24, 2009 from 5 to 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A funeral service followed at 7:00pm in the funeral home with Rev. Gary Andy, Chaplain of the Manchester VNA officiating. Cremation followed.
