Roland J. Tardif CFP LUTCF,71 of 340 Cumberland Hill Rd. died Friday at Oakland Gove Health Care Center. He was born in Woonsocket a son of the late Paul Emile and Yvette (Galipeau) Tardif. Roland was a District Life Insurance Agent for the Boston Mutual Life Insurance Co. for over twenty years retiring in 1996. He had also served on the Woonsocket Police Force for ten years and was a Navy Veteran. Roland was an entrepreneur of service to the public. He was a volunteer for the Special Olympics held at URI for many years, an avid fisherman, and tennis player. He loved watching the Red Sox and the Patriots and attending family gatherings.
He is survived by four children Michael J. Tardif of Woonsocket, John R. Tardif of WY, Monique Tardif and her wife Moreen of Spencer, MA and Gisele Smith of Woonsocket, two brothers J. Gerald Tardif and his wife Lorna J. of Milford, MA, and Paul J. Tardif and his wife Jacqueline A. of Woonsocket, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 AM, from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to: Special Olympics of RI, 33 College Hill Rd.
