John J. Wade, 67, of Sarasota formerly of New Bedford, passed away on September 18,2009 after a brief illness.
He was a graduate of Holy Family High School and New Bedford Institute of Technology. John worked for the Massachusetts Trial Court, Bristol County Juvenile Division for 33 years. He served as Chief Probation Officer for 25 of those years.
He leaves behind his wife Sandra, three children, Maureen O'Neil and her husband Christopher of Uxbridge, MA, Kathleen Tarnowski and her husband Paul of Hampton, NH and Christopher and his wife Stacy of Fairfax, VA. He also leaves his sister Helen Wade of No. Dartmouth and Priscilla Wade, mother of his children, of No. Dartmouth. John has seven wonderful grandchildren and two step children and two step grandchildren. John was a member of Whaling City Country Club. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, reading, golf and his beloved Red Sox.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 25th at 10 AM in St. Julie Billiart Church. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
