Obituary

Covington, LA- Mrs. Julia Boyd Maher of Stapleton, GA, wife of the late Mr. Marion J. Maher, Jr., died Monday, September 14, 2009 at her son’s home in Covington, LA.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Stapleton Baptist Church, Stapleton, GA with Stan Maher delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Stapleton Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Maher retired from Dekalb County, GA Board of Education. Educated at Stapleton Schools she attended Georgia State College for Women. Julia was an active member of Stapleton Baptist Church, Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association, and Jefferson County Historical Society.

Survivors include son and daughter in law, Stanley and Pamela Maher, daughter Julia Anne Spencer; sister Lillian Stacy; sister in law Rebie Boyd; grandson, Boyd and wife Jennifer Maher, Andrew Maher, Grant and wife Paige Maher; granddaughters, Margaret and Virginia Spencer; great grandchildren, Dalton Marion and Maggie Anne Maher; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

If so desired, memorials may be made to Stapleton Baptist Church, 360 Harvey Street, Stapelton, Georgia 30823, or East Jefferson General Hospital Foundation, 4200 Houma Blvd, Metairie, Louisiana 70006, or a favorite charity.

Residents in the Stapleton/ Wrens area may send floral tributes to James Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Wrens, Georgia 30833.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Maher Grandchildren and Nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 19, 2009 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the church.
