Frances A. Arfwedson, age 89, of Wilmington passed away September 16th at the Woodbriar of Wilmington Nursing Home following a short illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred A. Arfwedson. Born in East Boston she was the daughter of the Charles W. and Mary Ellen (Kennedy) Neal.
Frances was a Wilmington resident for nearly sixty years. She worked for many years with Compugraphic/AGFA Corp. Frances was mostly devoted to her loving family,;she enjoyed sewing, knitting and traveling with friends and family. She cherished spending time with her family and especially her loving grandchildren. She was also a big fan of the Boston Red Sox and loved to follow their progress throughout the seasons.
In addition to her late husband, Frances is predeceased by her daughter, Mary Ann Dulong, son, Alfred A. Arfwedson Jr., sisters, Claire Stevenson, Catherine Ray, Mamie Maykovich, Connie Neal, and brothers, Charles, John, William, Henry, Edmund, Ted and Joe Neal. She is survived by her son Richard Arfwedson of Haverhill, daughter, Charlene Yeo and her husband Charlie of Billerica. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Ann Elizabeth Close and her husband Michael, Stephen M. Dulong, Kathryn A. Dulong, Lt. Michael C. Yeo USMC, and Eric R. Arfwedson. She is further survived by her sisters, Regina Neal of Tewksbury, Margaret McInerny of Billerica and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo - Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, MONDAY, SEPT. 21ST, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo - Cavanaugh Funeral Home will be held Sunday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at the Tewksbury Cemetery. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Stroke Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688 or the Wilmington Dept. of Elderly Services, 15 School St. Wilmington, MA 01887.
