REED - Shirley Jean Reed, 71, of Yulee, passed away Saturday evening, September 12, 2009 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville. She was a native of Homerville, GA and moved to Yulee, FL 49 years ago from Waycross, GA. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach. Mrs. Reed was retired from Terminal Bag Company. She was a fabulous cook and was well known for her cooking skills. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and loved flowers. Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Francis Reed of Yulee, FL; four sons, John Mashburn of Fernandina Beach, FL, David Mashburn of Sneads, FL, Kenneth Reed of Jacksonville, FL and Tom Reed, also of Jacksonville; a daughter, Jennifer Reed of Yulee, FL; her mother, Lillie I. Truelove of Morrow, GA; one brother, James Smith of Morrow, GA; three sisters, Laverne Craig of Punta Gorda, FL, Barbara Rikard (Joe) of Morrow, GA, and Nell Gilbert of Waycross, GA; two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 21, at Green Pine Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Overton officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, 8384 Baymeadows Rd. Suite 10, Jacksonville, FL 32226.
