WEBSTER - Florence A. (Matteau) Fierro, 94, of Oak Tree Lane, died Tuesday, September 15, in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, after being stricken ill last week.
She leaves a son, Richard J. Fierro and his wife Simone V. of North Grosvenordale, CT; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; her close friend and caregiver, Jeanette Jolda; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Constance E. Yates in 1998, by her sister Lorette Kullas, and by her 7 brothers, Frank, James, Peter, John, Wilfred, Joseph and Henry Matteau.
She was born in Manchester, NH, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Grenier) Matteau. She lived in Webster for most of her life. She also resided in Worcester for 15 years.
She was a stitcher at Sandlerette Footwear Company and then at Putnam Manufacturing Company before retiring in 1980.
The funeral will be held at 9:00 AM Thursday, September 17, in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street.
