George J. Novak of Dickson City died Saturday at home.
Born in Dickson City, son of the late George and Anna Petrilla Novak, he was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served from 1943 to 1946. He was honorably discharged with the rank of third class fire controlman. A member of Holy Ghost Parish, Olyphant, he served as an altar boy in the parish. He was employed by Ford Motor Co. in the maintenance production control department.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Novak Bayard, Chesapeake, Va.; two sons, George Jr. and wife, Beverly, Palmer Twp.; and Paul and wife, Donna, Bethlehem Twp.; three sisters, Agnes Sweats, his twin, Fairfield, Conn.; Helen Doyle, Orange, Conn.; and Theresa Novak, Dickson City; two brothers, Joseph Novak, Colonia, N.J.; and Michael Novak, Dickson City; two grandsons, Brian Novak and Dwayne Cutler; and a granddaughter, Shannon Cutler.
He also was preceded in death by four sisters, Anna Novak, Mary Bunk, Margaret Drake and Dorothy Gajarszky; and a brother, Cyril Novak.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday from the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, Olyphant. Interment, SS. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery, Peckville.
