
Cecil W. Pride Jr., 72, of Medway, died, Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the Metro West Medical Center in Framingham. He was the beloved husband of Harriet J. (Deisz) Pride for almost 51 years.
Born in Somerville on March 4, 1937, he was a son of the late Cecil W. and Alice (Watts) Pride. Mr. Pride grew up in Winchester and had resided in Woburn until moving to Medway 40 years ago.
He graduated from Winchester High School in 1955 and attended Boston University. Mr. Pride was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict serving for three years and attaining the rank of specialist.
Before his retirement in 1997, he was a Medway postal worker for 28 years. He had previously been a manager at the former F.W. Woolworth Store in Newton.
Mr. Pride was a very active member of the Medway Senior Center and was also a member of the AMVET Post 495 in Millis and the Charles River Masonic Lodge in Medway.
Mr. Pride wintered with his wife in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where they enjoyed watching the sunrise. He also loved spending time in his garden.
Besides his wife, he is survived by; three sons, William Pride of Medway, Alan Pride and his companion, Bonnie Morelli of Millis and Carl Pride and his companion, Denese Kelly of Las Vegas, NV, six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He is also survived by a sister, Alice Clark of Billerica and a brother, Robert Pride and his wife, Helen of Lexington. He was the brother of the late Muriel Lassiter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday, September 17 at 10 a.m. in the Ginley–Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in West Medway.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m.
