LEICESTER; Ruth M. (Potter) Voellings,77, of Leicester, passed away on September 12 at the home of her son, Daniel, surrounded by her family.
She and her husband, Ralph W. Voellings, would have celebrated their 59th. wedding anniversary in November. Besides her husband she is survived by three sons John Voellings and his wife Susan, Daniel Voellings and his wife Rena all of Worcester, and Paul Voellings and his wife Karen of Spencer, a daughter Kathleen Daly of Leicester. She leaves seven grandchildren Thomas Daly,Jr. and Daniel Daly, Andrew and Eric Voellings, Dustin, Erika and Dylan Voellings, and a great grandson Thomas Daly, III. She also leaves a loving and devoted sister Barbara A. Pedone of Worcester, several cousins, nephews and nieces.
Ruth was employed by the former Big Discount markets, working in customer service. She retired after working several years in the corporate offices of Honey Farms convenience stores in Worcester.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Edward S. and Margaret A. (Ruane) Potter.
She was an avid reader and a lover of animals. Ruth was a wonderful and loving mother to her children, a devoted wife and a dear friend. She will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 15 at 10 a.m. in St. Paul’s Cathedral, 15 Chatham St., Worcester. Her nephew, Rev. Msgr. F. Stephen Pedone will be celebrant. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
The family request that flowers be omitted. Memorial donations may be made in Ruth’s name to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester, 01602. MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester is directing arrangements.
