Obituary

WORCESTER/MURCHISON, TX-John Francis Killoran, formerly of Worcester, recently of Murchison, Texas, was stricken at home on September 10th. He was 57 years old. Born in Worcester December 1st 1951, he attended Sacred Heart School, Saint Peter’s Central Catholic High School, and Worcester Junior College. He was a graduate of Quinsigamond Community College, Massachusetts Police Academy for Correctional Practices, and Wackenhut Security Institute in Coral Gables, Florida.

He is the son of Arlene Burbank Killoran and the late John Joseph Killoran, a thirty-nine year veteran of the Worcester Police Department. He leaves two daughters, Jessica Hazard of Connecticut and Jennifer Killoran of Worcester, and two granddaughters, Rae’anne and Maxine Hazard. He leaves three sisters and one brother, Kathleen Killoran of Worcester, Elizabeth Bowles of Barre, Margaret Weston and Stephen Killoran of Worcester. His brother Robert Killoran predeceased him in 2005. He leaves two nephews, Ryan Killoran of Worcester and Robert Killoran of Orange.

John authored two volumes of poetry. Among his topics was his desire to “simply die helping someone else to live.” At his request, his body was donated to The Willed Body Program at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial donations may be made to John’s specified charity, Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38101-9908.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 15th from 5 – 8p.m. at CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street in Worcester. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. www.callahanfay.com
