Eunice Griffin Kitchens, 75, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, September 10, 2009, at the Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Funeral service will be held 2:30 P.M. Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Abba Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Donnie Sutton officiating. Eulogies will be given by Carlton Stringer and Franklin Sumner. Interment will follow in the Abba Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Kitchens was born May 5, 1934 in Irwin County to the late John Spence and May Bell Griffin. She was former employee of H.R. Kaminsky and Sons, Y and W Sportswear, and The Monarch Company. Mrs. Kitchens received her CNA certification from Ben Hill-Irwin Technical Institute and worked as a CNA at Osceola Nursing Home. She was a member, Sunday School teacher, and assistant choir director at Abba Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Mrs. Kitchens is survived by her husband: Rev. Howard Kitchens of Fitzgerald, GA; Children: Michael Kitchens of Acworth, GA , and Michelle K. (Phillip) Taylor of Fitzgerald, GA; Granddaughters: Peyton and Bailey Taylor of Fitzgerald, GA; Brothers: Alvin Griffin, Willis (Peggy) Griffin both of Fitzgerald, GA; Sister: Louise G. Fowler of Fitzgerald and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers : Herman, Robert, Floyd and Henry Griffin and sister, Beulah Foster.
