Lorena M. Furtado, 88

Lorena M. (Patrick) Furtado, 88, of Canterbury Woods and a former longtime resident of Norton passed away on Tuesday September 8, 2009 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Furtado who died on May 1, 1994.
Born in Hinton, West Virginia on August 22, 1921 she was a daughter of the late John B. and Lorena B. (Wiseman) Patrick.
Lorena grew up and was educated in West Virginia. She enjoyed making her home at Canterbury Woods in Attleboro where she resided for the past 2 years. She had formerly lived on North Worcester St. in Norton for 56 years.
Mrs. Furtado was a dedicated homemaker and took great pride in the appearance of her former home in Norton. She was a fabulous cook and throughout the years built up quite an extensive collection of cook books, and recently with the help of her friend and guardian, Attorney George L. Whiting, Jr. of Abington, she graciously donated them to the Abington Council on Aging for others to enjoy her love of cooking.
She is survived by her daughter Mary and was also the sister of the late Billie Patrick and John Patrick.
Graveside funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday September 18th at 11:00 A.M. at the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Plain St. Norton.
Visiting hours have been omitted and those wishing may remember Lorena with a donation in her memory made to the Resident Activity Fund at Canterbury Woods 100 Garfield Ave. Attleboro, MA 02703.
