Rose M. Akins, 90, of Chester, NH, died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 in the Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont, NH. Mrs. Akins was born in Derry, NH on January 3, 1919, a daughter of the late Henry Q. and Margaret (Brewster) Bessey. She was a resident of Chester for the past five years, formerly living in Florida and Derry. Mrs. Akins enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family.
She is survived by three sons, Wayne Akins of Warner, NH, Michael Akins of Clearwater, FL, and Eric Akins of Brandon, FL; three daughters, Patricia Akins of Wellesley, MA, Kathryn Stapleford of Chester, and Janice Rae Bragg of Dunedin, FL; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Ray L. Akins, Jr. in 2000, and her daughter Dianne Humphrey.
Calling hours were held on Friday, September 11th from 5 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Saturday at 10:00am in the funeral home, followed by burial in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry.
