Emogene Herndon Moore Folsom, 87, of Tifton died Sunday, September 6, 2009, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Kevin Harris and Rev. David Folsom will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Ray Fields, Bob Brolsma, Jeffery Thompson, Matt Herndon, Andy Thompson, Roy Cooper, Andrew Thompson and Ely Cooper will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Oak Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 7, 2009, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Folsom was born on September 21, 1921 in Berrien County and was the daughter of Millard F. Herndon, Sr. and Emma Bell Justice Herndon, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Willis Moore; one brother, Millard F. Herndon, Jr.; and one grandson, Larry Jones, Jr. She was a retired hairdresser of 50 years and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Folsom is survived by her husband, John Melvin Folsom of Tifton; one daughter, Nelda Jean Jones of Tifton; two step-sons and their wives, David and Terry Folsom of Florida and Darrell and Nelda Folsom of Doerun; one step-daughter and her husband, Ann and Tony Hester of Cordele; two granddaughters, Gina Thompson and Myra Thompson; three great grandchildren, Jeffery Thompson, Jacey Thompson and Andrew Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
