Obituary

Rose A. Tosto, of Medford, died Monday at the Exeter Hospital, after a brief illness. She was 94.

Mrs. Tosto was the daughter of the late Federico and the late Antoniatta (Zucchi) Cocchiara. Mrs. Tosto was born in Italy and came to America at age three with her siblings. She returned to Italy at age 10 and finally returned to America at age 18. She settled in Waltham, then upon her marriage in 1929 she came to Medford where she lived all her life. She worked many years as a Floor Lady in garment manufacturing.

Dedicated to her family, Rose was a devout woman and visited St. Anthony Shrine in Boston, weekly.

She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore. She is survived by her children: Grace Fratto of NH, Salvatore Tosto of OK, Antoinette Nocera of TX, Eugene Tosto of Tewksbury and Paul Tosto of Medford. Rose was a loving grandmother of 21 and great grandmother of 37. She was the sister of Egidio Cocchiara of FL, Gino Cocchiara of Norwood, Ceasar Cocchiara of Springfield, Mary Porzio of Onset, Virginia Birdson of Barnstable and the late Eugenia Cunningham and Mario Cocchiara.

Friends may visit Friday from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 16, at 11AM in St. Joseph Church, Medford, with the Rev. David Meskel, celebrant.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Rose’s name to the Italian Home For Children, 1125 Centre St., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
