Irene (Ferrecchia) Travers, 87, of Hudson, wife of the late Albert Travers passed away Saturday, Sept. 5th at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center after a lengthy illness. Born in Hudson in May 1922, the daughter of John and Lucy (Sousa) Ferrecchia, Irene was a lifelong resident of Hudson and worked as a hairdresser well into her seventies as owner of Irene’s Beauty Salon. She was active in many local groups including the Happy Do Littles, the Breakfast Club, and many square dance groups in the metro west area. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Travers and his wife Carolyn of Salem, NH and her daughter, Denise Travers of Tolland, CT. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Roma Ferrecchia, wife of her predeceased brother Gennaro and her niece and nephew Lisa and Adam Ferrecchia of Milford, MA; her sister-in-law Jennie Ferrecchia, wife of her predeceased brother Joseph of Anderson, SC; her lifelong friend, Florence Phaneuf of Hudson.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA on Tuesday, Sept. 8th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson on Wednesday, Sept. 9th at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson.
