Obituary

Mitchell D. Kosowsky, 89, of Manchester, NH died September 5, 2009 at the Courville at Manchester after a period of declining health.
Born in Wilmington, DE on October 6, 1919, he was the son of Harry and Rose (Huta) Kosowsky. He lived in Wilmington, DE most of his life, then in Florida eight years before moving to New Hampshire several years ago.
He was one of the first seven men from Delaware to be drafted into the US Army during World War II and served with the Delaware 198th Coast Artillery Regiment. As a staff sergeant, he participated in Operation Bobcat at Bora Bora in the South Pacific.
With his brother Harry, he owned and operated the supermarket, Kosowsky’s in South Wilmington, DE for many years.
IN HIS LIFE: He was devoted to his wife of 54 years, Anne (Malhowski) Kosowsky, who predeceased him in 1997. He died on the 66th anniversary of their 1943 wedding day. He loved going to their summer home in Atlantic City where he bicycled back and forth the full length of the boardwalk every day he was there.
From a musical family, he played the mandolin and enjoyed singing and dancing, especially the polka. Always working on a project, he began making clocks later in life and won prizes at craft fairs for his clock making.
He will be greatly missed by those who loved him and who will always remember his strong work ethic, his generosity, his easy going manner, and his beautiful blue eyes.
The family would like to thank our Carlyle and Courville family for their loving care of “Mitch”.
The family includes a daughter, Michele Cantlin and her husband, Edward of Bedford, NH; three sisters, Olga Flick of Virginia, Jenny Kulyk of New York and Dorothy Sacco of Delaware; nieces and nephews.
