Obituary

Jesup-Tom D. Raulerson, Lt. Colonel U.S. Air Force Ret. passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was a native and former resident of Waycross and Ft. Lauderdale, FL, where he was a former Broward County employee. A resident of Jesup since 1994, he was a member of the American Legion Post #311 of Jesup and Camilla Lodge #128 F.&A.M. He was a 1949 graduate of the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN.

He was a veteran of WWII and Korea. Colonel Raulerson retired in 1965 with 20 years of active service. A B-29 and B-17 Bomber Pilot, he flew 29 trips over Germany and 28 trips over Korea and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross in WWII and Korea. He was a member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church and the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class.

He is survived by his wife: Sadie M. Raulerson of Jesup; son: Tom D. Raulerson of Iowa; two daughters: Rayna R.Gardner and Spring Raulerson of Pompano Beach FL and two step-daughters: Joann Bunch and Sherree Fountain of Jesup; three grandsons, two granddaughters, two great-grandchildren and one step-granddaughter also survive.

Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 5 until 7 pm at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
